“The people know much better how to spend their money than the government†. Working Americans like lower taxes. So do I. Lower taxes benefit all of us, creating jobs and allowing us to make more decisions for ourselves about our lives.Whether a tax cut reduces a single mother’s payroll taxes by $40 a month or allows a business owner to save thousands in capital gains taxes and hire more employees, that tax cut is a good thing. Lower taxes allow more spending, saving, and investing which helps the economy — that means all of us.Real conservatives have always supported low taxes and low spending. But today, too many politicians and lobbyists are spending America into ruin. We are nine trillion dollars in debt as a nation. Our mounting government debt endangers the financial future of our children and grandchildren. If we don’t cut spending now, higher taxes and economic disaster will be in their future — and yours. In addition, the Federal Reserve, our central bank, fosters runaway debt by increasing the money supply — making each dollar in your pocket worth less. The Fed is a private bank run by unelected officials who are not required to be open or accountable to “we the people.â€Worse, our economy and our very independence as a nation is increasingly in the hands of foreign governments such as China and Saudi Arabia, because their central banks also finance our runaway spending. We cannot continue to allow private banks, wasteful agencies, lobbyists, corporations on welfare, and governments collecting foreign aid to dictate the size of our ballooning budget. We need a new method to prioritize our spending. It’s called the Constitution of the United States.

“Over-taxed” doesnt even begin to describe American society today. Between overt and hidden taxation, Americans spend more than half their income on taxes. We spend more of our time working for our government than a medieval serf of 500 years ago spent working for his lord! And what do we get in return for half our money, half our time, half our LIVES? If were lucky, we get things that the market could provide more cheaply and efficiently than government does. If were not lucky, we get things that we wouldnt ever buy if we werent forced to.As your President, Ill work diligently to ease your tax burden. If I can get a tax eliminated, I will. If I cant get it eliminated, Ill strive to get it lowered.- Ill veto any proposed increases in existing taxes. Period.- Ill veto any proposed new taxes. Period.- Ill veto any budget passed by Congress that is not in balance based on the previous years revenues, not on rosy projections of future revenues. Period.Yes, I know that Congress can override presidential vetos, and they very well may do just that. But I promise you — no tax increase, no new tax, no deficit budget will be imposed on you over my signature. As the American economy grows — and with the policies of smaller government I advocate, that growth is certain to get faster — federal revenues will go up without tax increases. As they do, Ill go to Congress each year with a budget proposal that splits those increased revenues right down the middle: Half of that extra money into across-the-board income tax cuts for the following year, half into reduction of the national debt.Ill also work to cut spending. Our government is too big. It does too many things that it shouldnt be doing. I want to stop it from doing those things — and give the money thats being taken from you to do them back to you.My goal is to eliminate the federal income tax. Until I can convince Congress to do that, I favor cutting the income tax in a way thats simple, fair and, as I said, “across the board.”My tax cut proposals wont come in the form of loopholes or deductions for special interests or “the rich.” They wont come in the form of hokey schemes like the “flat tax” or the “Fair Tax.” Those gimmicks are like rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. My tax cut proposals will be REAL tax cuts in the form of increases to the “personal exemption.”Every year, every American will be able to earn more income before the federal government tries to take any tax.Every year, more Americans, earning more money, will fall off the income tax rolls completely, and those who dont will be taxed less. When it comes to eliminating the income tax, many people have told me that thats impossible — that it would amount to an unthinkable, fundamental reorganization of American society. But America survived without an income tax until 1913. Thats more than half of our nations history! And it wasnt until World War II that the income tax became a major factor in government finance, or that the government began “automatically withholding” taxes from your weekly paycheck.Historically speaking, the income tax as we know it has been a short-term experiment, and in my opinion its been a FAILED experiment. I dont see why it should be “unthinkable” to take a step backward from that mistake. I consider it eminently thinkable — as a matter of fact, I consider it common sense. And Ill do my best to make it happen.Lets work together to make April 15th just another spring day instead of a symbol of all thats gone wrong with America. Lets work together to put more money back in your pocket. Lets work together to make your wealth — and your FREEDOM — grow!

Senator Radogno, who may run for Governor in 2010, assesses Obamas Presidential judgment, if the GOP can make a comeback and what to do about the Illinois Combine.Jeff Berkowitz, host and producer of “Public Affairs,” debates and discusses state legislative issues and Barack Obamas Presidential judgment and leadership traits with State Senator Christine Radogno (R-Lemont). Senator Radogno, Deputy Republican Leader in the Senate, outperformed all the other Republican State-wide candidates in her losing 2006 race for Treasurer against Democrat Alexi Giannoulias. Radognos twelve-year tenure in the Illinois Statehouse includes the eight years (1997-2004) that Obama served in the Illinois State Senate.Senator Radogno, while noting that Senator Brady has said he is “definitely out there,” in terms of the 2010 Gubernatorial race and that Berkowitz mentioned Cross as a potential Guv candidate, would “not rule anything out.” regarding a run for Governor in 2010 by her.Senator Radogno, who served on some senate committees with Senator Obama, answered a line of questioning about the judgment of Senator Obama, especially with regard to Obamas chosen pastor and spiritual advisor, Jeremiah Wright, but also in regard to Obamas friend and former financial supporter, Tony Rezko (quarter of a million dollars contributed to Obama or raised by Rezko for Obama over eight years); Obamas endorsement, in 2006, of Todd Stroger, Democratic Cook County Board Presidential candidate (Todd Strogers main claim to fame at that time was that he was the son of John Stroger, who pretty much was a straight, Chicago political patronage kind of guy for 12 years as the Cook County Board President) and Obamas association with William Ayers, a radical in the weathermen underground movement in the 60s. Radogno argued, taken together, these actions and associations raise judgment issues as to Obama. Radogno also argued that Obama accepting or asking for “help with his house purchase,” from Rezko [or his wife] also reflected bad judgment.”Senator Radogno noted that Obama has responded to the “Pastor issue. in a [Philadelpia] speech and that Obama is “at his best when giving a speech.” Radogno argued, however, that Obama was still defending Pastor Wrights comments and that the comments were so hateful, bitter and angry that she could not imagine any context in which Wrights comments were appropriate. Radogno also noted that the church publication had a pattern of …anti-European, anti-Semitic…Berkowitz brought up some of the contra arguments to Radognos arguments, above, including Obamas statement that “only in America could somebody with Obamas story become a Presidential candidate Berkowitz also noted that Obama could not diassociate himself from Wright because he is “almost family.Berkowitz raised the issue of whether the State GOP can make a comeback in 08 if Obama is leading the ballot for the Democrats in the Fall. Senator Radogno was enthusiastic about the State GOPs chances, notwithstanding Obamas likely presence as the Democratic leader at the top of the ballot. Radogno said she could buy into some of the Governors proposals, such as the lease of the lottery, if you had a Governor who was controlling spending and was going to take the “pension money,” and “fix the pensions,” which would include a two tiered system. Radogno said, “We dont need to cut spending — what we need to do is not expand beyond the [new] revenue that comes in.” Radogno would focus on cutting programs such as Medicaid, which is growing in Illinois at about 8% per year and appears to include many who do not meet the eligibility standards. Berkowitz and Radogno also debated additional gaming and casinos as a way of financing an “09 capital budget. Berkowitz and Radogno discussed how to improve the State GOP, including getting rid of the Illinois Combine.RT: 28:49

Partial transcript from Myrtle Beach debate 1-10-07HUCKABEE: The Air Force has a saying that says that if youre not catching flak, youre not over the target. Im catching the flak, I must be over the target.(APPLAUSE)HUCKABEE: Fred, I want to say, I appreciate the analysis of my record, but let me try to give you some of the facts of my record.I came into Arkansas as a governor. Put in that position as a lieutenant governor when my predecessor, a Democrat, was forced out of office on a felony conviction.I did something that had not been done in my state in 160 years. I cut taxes, with the legislature working with me, and we continued to do that 94 times. We cut spending. Ill tell you, the most painful time of my being a governor in 10 and a half years was looking at a budget that 91 percent of which was pretty well fixed on education, Medicaid, and prisons — and cutting 11 percent out of that budget.Everywhere I went for about a year, and every person — it may take me just a moment longer, please.HUME: Go ahead. Go ahead.HUCKABEE: Because there were a lot of things on that catalog there.HUME: Go ahead. Please, go ahead.THOMPSON: I know the feeling.HUCKABEE: Yes.Everywhere I went, I had people protesting me and screaming and yelling and doing demonstrations because I cut government. But I stayed faithful to the things that Ronald Reagan stayed faithful to.You know, if Ronald Reagan were running tonight, there would be ads by the Club for Growth running against him because he raised taxes a billion dollars in his first year as governor of California. It would be $10 billion today. What I did was I governed. And the people of my state must have liked the way I did it, because they kept re-electing me.HUME: Thank you, Governor. Baltimore2008.comOn a warm day some kids are skating by the harbor. Instead of having a policeman on the corner of Linden and North in Reservoir Hill or some other drug ravaged corner the police have a man patrolling the harbor in a vehicle purchased for that purpose. He gets out of his vehicle and starts yelling at kids when he could be busting drug dealers in most any other part of Baltimore. The police will probably have his head for this but the real issue is why do we have cops going after kids at the Harbor while they could be out on corners busting the real bad guys. This story will probably make national news for all the wrong reasons. The sad thing is Baltimore is wasting tax dollars on far worse things than this. Mayor Dixon is now paying for homeless people stay in hotels in the county. In her state of the City address she implied that we are in for a budget crunch and we may not get our promised property tax relief. We need lower property taxes now! Stop voting in the people who refuse to cut our property taxes. There is so much waste in Baltimore City. We need to cut spending and insane services like housing homeless people in hotels in the county. Give the tax payers a break. We are TIRED of supporting ridiculous things like this. www.Baltimore2008.com is part of the answer. Spread the word. It has been 40 years since the riots (although in many areas it looks like they happened yesterday). Now it is time for rebellion! 1968-2008

In this information-packed video, Freedom Party of Ontario leader Paul McKeever explains that the “fiscal gap” is a myth…a myth promoted by provincial politicians who are afraid of being accountable to the public for raising taxes or cutting spending. Paul also explains the dangers, to confederation and to the democratic process, of provinces seeking to balance their budgets with federal tax revenues.
